Who is Mortgage Heroes?
Mortgage Heroes located in Chula Vista, CA is a family owned and operated mortgage company. Mortgage Heroes offers residential mortgage financing for purchase, rate & term refinance, and cash out refinance. Our product range spans Conventional, FHA and VA mortgages. Of those, VA financing is the resounding expertise which accounts for more than 90% of loans financed by our company. Further, many of our conventional loans are refinances from clients who already have a VA loan and need to free up their VA eligibility for use in a subsequent transaction.
How did you come up with the name “Mortgage Heroes”?
Admittedly, this is a play on words. Mortgages are not inherently attractive or exciting, but coming up with a name that coupled what we do with who we do it for made this name an easy match. We earnestly believe that our service men and woman are heroes. We stand behind their dedication to put themselves on the front lines for our great nation. What better way to demonstrate our focus and our respect than to make our company name all about who we love serving, Heroes. Thus, the name “Mortgage Heroes” came to pass.
Why is VA financing so important to you and your family?
We come from a long family line of veterans. We have had family members serve during each time of war since World War II, including the most recent conflicts overseas. We even have a family war hero who was a USS Arizona survivor from the attacks on Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941. We are also based in a military town, San Diego California. We are home to the largest United States Naval presence on the west coast as well as the largest United States Marine Corps presence on the west coast (Camp Pendleton).
When did you make the move to focus your efforts toward active duty military and veterans?
In 2011 the VA home loan was one of the most misunderstood and underutilized mortgage programs in the whole country. It was a less than popular finance product during the housing boom that preceded the collapse of 2008 mostly due to the overselling of highly leveraged mortgage products banking institutions made available to the public at the same time that the VA loan program still had roadblocks for ease of dissemination amongst the financial markets.
While the real estate and mortgage markets were still working to recover from the mortgage meltdown we asked ourselves: “Who are our most deserving clients? What work can we do that will be the most rewarding coming out of this last market mess?” The answer to both of those questions was – SERVICE MEMBERS. The answer came simply and without hesitation. We needed to align our total focus to provide VA home loan products to active duty and veterans. We searched out the most favorable VA banks who were interested in educating and helping more eligible service members their VA benefit and took off! Now 10 years into this focus we have achieved greater success than we initially imagined while serving the needs of people whom we respect and honor.
What is your hope for the future of VA financing?
We strive to educate active duty and veterans on the benefits of the VA home loan. We commonly overcome myths about the VA mortgage among clients. We want every veteran to benefit from the VA entitlement afforded them connected to their service to our country. Simply put, we aim to put more military in homes using the VA purchase. We aim to help active duty and veterans save money monthly by reducing their interest rate with the VA IRRRL program (VA Interest Rate Reduction Refinance Loan). We aim to help active duty and veterans access their home equity in times of appreciation to consolidate debts, remodel their home or and make those cherished upgrades.
For most veterans, their home is the most valuable asset in their life and affords them the optimal chance at future appreciation value to create generational wealth.
